Abuse is an epidemic issue in our world. Experts say 1 in 4 women and 1 in 6 men experience abuse in their lifetimes and these statistics hold true even in the Church. These abuse experiences often start during childhood and the effects of the trauma can last a lifetime, impacting both health and faith. The Church is often the first place victims of abuse go to seek help and healing. If we are not educated and equipped to properly serve these hurting individuals can we unintentionally neglect or even re-victimize the individual. This is why we created The Courage Conference.
The Courage Conference will serve to encourage survivors of abuse and educate pastors and church leaders on safe ways to respond and prevent abuse in their ministries through engaging, inspirational speakers that are faith based and trained in various aspects of abuse prevention. We will offer a unique opportunity to connect with free, local resources so your Church doesn't have to do this on your own.
Join us for The Courage Conference this October 28th and 29th, 2016 in Lynchburg, Virginia. If you are unable to make it to Lynchburg but would still like to take part of the training and healing experience you can also watch online LIVE.
We are not going to lie. This is our first event and though we expect it to be spectacular we are in need of funds to make it happen... to the tune of $10,000. Tickets will be covering only the food, printed material and other expenses for each individual attendee. We still need financial investors to help cover the cost of the building rental, travel expenses for the speakers and promotional. We would also like to be able to offer scholarships for survivors who would like to attend but cannot cover the ticket price. Can you help us?
