These little hints of love and liberation though are only a taste of the flavor of His kingdom.
We love because Jesus first loved us. And, we seek to liberate because Jesus first liberated us.
We have all sinned and fallen short of God's standard for righteousness. The punishment for sin is death and hell.
Jesus, God's only Son, came to earth and lived a perfect life. He, the God-Man, fulfilled all of the Old Testament Law perfectly making Him the one and only human who could satisfy God's righteous wrath for our sin. He did this by choosing to die on the cross and bear our sins in His own body. That day God poured all of the wrath He had stored up for us onto Jesus.
He laid in the grave for three day but rose again in victory, crushing death.
He offers us the free gift of Love and Liberation through Salvation if we repent and believe. We have Liberation from the punishment for our sins, from the weight of the old law and from the curse that came because of sin. And, we have Love in the form of grace and forgiveness, a new status as heirs with Jesus and citizens of His Kingdom, heaven.
As forgiven, citizens of Heaven we seek to bring Love and Liberation, the way of the Kingdom, here on earth. Yes, the curse is still here, strong and deep but one day it will be all swallowed up by His victory.
"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." -Galatians 5
"This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another." -1 John 4
